Every Week Is Small Business Week

Since 1905, Ford has designed vehicles with small businesses in mind. From bakers to plumbers to electricians, supporting the American dream is part of who we are — starting with the Model T. That spirit of work started early: Owners transformed the Model T into everything from makeshift taxis, known as "jitneys," and rural ambulances to mobile power sources for farm equipment.

Today and every day, Ford Pro continues that tradition by prioritizing work and workers — not just during National Small Business Week, but every week. Ford vans and trucks are operated by more small businesses than any other automaker in America.1

Here’s the truth: Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy, representing nearly half of the nation’s workforce and contributing trillions of dollars annually, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. They are navigating a complex landscape: facing economic uncertainty, grappling with labor shortages, managing rising costs, and competing fiercely with larger players.

The demands are immense, the road challenging. Still, they are forging ahead, and as the commercial vehicle leader for more than 40 years, Ford Pro has worked alongside them to help them work more productively with dependable and affordable vehicles, smart software, and accessible vehicle service options.

From America, For America

We understand that recent times have presented challenges for many, and perhaps especially for the smallest business owners, including individual buyers and those just starting out. It’s why we were the first to help Americans with the launch of the From America, For America program, extending Ford employee pricing to all.

Given the positive response we’ve seen, Ford is extending the program through the July 4 weekend. Small business owners launching a venture or growing their operations may benefit with Ford employee pricing on select dealer in-stock models, including the 2024-2025 Transit, E-Transit, and 2024 Super Duty. This delivers significant savings to our valued “fleetail” customers — those who buy like retail customers but operate like small fleets — providing savings when they need it most.

The Ford Pro work lineup is built for capability and durability, offering choices across gas, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains. All vehicles are equipped with connectivity for software tools that help businesses operate more efficiently. Our Transit van makes up nearly half (49.8%) of the market share for full-size vans purchased by small businesses that operate fewer than 10 vehicles in their fleet.2

Likewise, more small businesses choose Ford Pro light- and heavy-duty trucks than any other automaker in America.3 The best-selling Ford F-Series pickups and Transit vans set the standard for work vehicles across construction, services, and other sectors.4 And more top industries that rely on heavy-duty trucks, such as mining, utilities, and emergency services, choose Super Duty over the competition.5

Extra Value with EVs

Elite Home Care, a South Carolina-based disability care provider, received its Ford E-Transit fleet in 2022. Since then, its all-electric vans have helped reduce operating costs and provide better client service.

“We are doing good things for the community and the environment but also seeing major fiscal benefits,” said Co-Founder Chris Russo. “In an environment of rising costs everywhere, we’ve seen [electric vehicles] as a huge opportunity for us and other small businesses to be more cost-efficient.”

Ford Pro recently introduced the Electric Vehicle Incentive Consultation Service to simplify the complex landscape of incentives and rebates for electric vehicle and charging purchases. This can be especially valuable for small businesses lacking the time or resources to navigate overlapping tax credits, grants, and rebates. Elite Home Care is a prime example: By leveraging the new service, the business secured incentives that fully covered the $25,000 cost of its DC fast charger installation.

Leveling the Playing Field

Ford Pro’s suite of software and services further helps small businesses work smarter. We’re leveling the playing field by scaling fleet management services — once available only to large enterprises — for small businesses.

With Ford Pro Telematics Software, fleet managers can track vehicle performance and monitor idling in real time. Grade A Construction, a woman-owned construction company in Tennessee, used Ford Pro Telematics Software to identify operational improvements, reducing vehicle wear and fuel consumption while optimizing its workforce.

“We can easily look at the dashboard and see who is close to what, maximizing our resources and manpower to the very best of our ability every single day,” said Lance Lannom, senior vice president and president of operations.

Telematics software also helps small businesses stay on top of vehicle maintenance, which is critical since every hour of downtime can mean missed opportunities and lost revenue.

Keeping Small Businesses Moving

To help minimize disruption, Ford Mobile Service brings certified technicians to the office or worksite. It’s the largest mobile service fleet among all U.S. automakers, meaning we can provide maintenance and minor repairs at times that fit customers’ busy schedules.

At Ocean Hill Equine Medical Group, a veterinary practice specializing in horse care in California, Dr. Tad Bender uses Ford Mobile Service to cut appointment-related vehicle downtime from four hours to just one. As a result, he can reach patients faster — crucial in emergencies — and treat more of them.

“With Mobile Service, I went from having to take at least a half day off work to only being down for an hour at lunch,” said Dr. Bender, who estimated he drives his Super Duty nearly 1,000 miles a week.
