Ford Pro Telematics Software Now ISO 27001 Certified with Top Data Security Certification

For 40 years, Ford® has led the way with trucks and vans that America’s commercial fleets rely on.1With versatile Transit® vans and the nation’s best-selling pickup trucks for 48 years,2Ford has delivered the power of choice for business and government customers from coast to coast.
Today, the power of choice extends beyond bed lengths, payloads and powertrains, with commercial operators increasingly turning to connected vehicle data when making decisions for their fleets.
Since its launch, Ford Pro™, the commercial division within Ford Motor Company, has transformed how business and government fleet operators use this data — evolving from telematics to a comprehensive intelligence platform to meet the changing needs of fleets, emphasizing innovation and user-centric design.
Here’s a look at how Ford Pro has grown its telematics-powered solutions over the past five years, helping customers maximize efficiency and reduce total cost of ownership.
In March 2018, Ford committed to adding modems to all Ford vehicles as a key step to improving the ownership experience over time. Embedded modems became standard on Ford commercial vehicles starting in 2020. Activating these modems is essential to accessing telematics features and realizing their benefits.
By 2020, IoT (Internet of Things) technologies had become ever-present for consumers and businesses alike, growing from just over three billion smart devices in 2014 to more than 20 billion by 2020.4 Connected vehicles were no exception, with IoT-enabled vehicle data, analytics, and insights in high demand from commercial vehicle customers.
In June 2020, Ford Telematics was launched to not only meet this demand for data, but also help business and government customers supercharge their fleet decision-making abilities. Key features of Ford Telematics at launch included:
As more business and government customers looked toward electrifying their fleets, Ford Pro Charging was launched to support the transition to electric trucks and vans — with E-Telematics6 now making the power of data available across all types of powertrains. E-Telematics was designed to work seamlessly with connected EV chargers, providing commercial customers with enhanced EV support and operational insights. Key features of E-Telematics at launch included:
Ford Pro introduced Ford Pro Intelligence, a vertically integrated, cloud-based platform powering a suite of digital solutions for all commercial customers, regardless of size or vocation. Meanwhile, Ford Pro continued to enhance its telematics solutions by integrating even more advanced features:
To further support commercial adoption of electric trucks and vans, Ford Pro further enhanced its E-Telematics software. The updated E-Telematics subscription provided business and government customers with not only advanced solutions, but also ever-increasing integration with connected chargers and their data — at home, at workplaces and in vehicle depots. Enhanced features included:
As commercial customers’ use of data grew increasingly sophisticated, Ford Pro committed to even further advancing its telematics solutions with new data-driven offerings including:
Today, commercial customers expect their data to be smart and secure, creating savings and being safeguarded.
That’s why Ford Pro earned the ISO 27001 certification — the most-recognized international standard for managing information security. This reflects the importance that Ford Pro puts on data privacy, including the more than one billion datapoints monitored and analyzed each day by Ford Pro Intelligence.12
And that data today is smarter than ever when it comes to driver behavior and fleet performance.
Telematics plays a significant role in shaping the future of fleet operations across many industries including last-mile delivery, construction, utilities, forestry, mining, and services. Ford Pro customers utilizing Ford Pro Intelligence solutions have supported this evolution by leveraging telematics data to address their own distinct business needs.
Dane County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin activated Ford Pro Telematics subscriptions in more than 120 police vehicles, Ford and non-Ford alike, to help reduce the chances that an officer might be stranded, injured and alone until backup could arrive, noting “the crash notifications really do have the potential to help us save a life.”
Southern Company, one of the nation’s largest electric utilities, is collaborating with Ford Pro on a pilot program involving more than 200 F-150 Lightning pickups and Ford Pro Charging software to optimize the energy provider’s depot charging practices, including electricity use and costs; maximize vehicle uptime; and minimize total cost of ownership.
Commercial customers also expect to adapt their vehicles to the job. Ford Pro introduced the Vehicle Integration System 2.0, a hardware interface providing upfitters with access to vehicle data, digitally connecting the upfit. Vehicle Integration System 2.0 leverages more than 130 vehicle sensors and signals, helping improve the customer experience and upfitter efficiency.
