Unlocking Access: How Ford Is Expanding Charging Options for Electric Vehicle Owners

In October of last year, we launched Ford Power Promise in the U.S., a comprehensive program designed to give drivers the confidence to go electric with Ford by addressing some of their most important questions around electric vehicle ownership. These questions include how to charge at home, where to charge on the road, what to know about battery care, and who to reach out to for help.
Since the launch, we expanded the program to Canada. And last week we announced, alongside our From America, For America initiative, the further extension of the Ford Power Promise complimentary home charger and standard installation offer until June 30, 2025, in the U.S. and some Canadian regions.
Today, the Ford Power Promise launches in the UK, helping more drivers to make the switch, if electric is right for them.
A key benefit of Ford Power Promise is helping our customers understand that home is where the charge is.
Charging at home is the easiest and most cost-effective way to fill up an electric vehicle for most customers. So, it just made sense for Ford to offer a complimentary home charger with standard installation to help make the electric vehicle journey even simpler.
And it’s working. Ford data shows that customers who had a Ford Power Promise charger installed are more likely to charge at home and more often — helping them save time and money.
Customers can save even more by using the preferred charge time software feature to schedule their charging during off-peak hours when utility rates are lowest.
Don’t get us wrong. The ability and freedom to conveniently charge your electric vehicle away from home is important, which is why we’re so proud to tout the work Ford has done to make that easier for our customers — from expanding the BlueOval™ Charge Network in North America to delivering fast charging adapters for our customers at scale to use on other charging networks.
But for most electric vehicle owners, including me, the ability to plug in their vehicle at night and wake up in the morning ready to go is the ultimate life hack.
It has been the same journey for my family, too. My mom now drives an F-150 Lightning and loves the convenience of filling up at home. My brother also joined the Ford electric vehicle family with a Mustang Mach-E last year.
For Ford customers, home is where the charge is. We ran the numbers. Here are the facts when it comes to electric vehicle ownership:
