How Ford Just Turned the Work Van into a Rolling Smart Hub

For 60 years, the Ford Transit® has been a reliable partner for businesses around the world, and it's always been a big part of Ford's long history of making vehicles that help people get the job done.

This year in America, the Transit is getting a huge upgrade that you might not see on the outside, but you'll definitely feel the difference on the inside. We've given it a complete digital makeover, almost like giving it a brand-new brain.

Even though it looks familiar, our engineers have packed it with advanced tech to bring you next-level digital features, helpful driver aids, and enhanced over-the-air updates. It’s all seamlessly connected into Ford Pro software like Telematics,1 and this Transit is designed to meet your needs whether you're a small business owner, a fleet manager, or just need a super capable van.

What new connectivity features are in the 2026 Ford Transit?

The biggest new feature making all this possible is a built-in 5G modem and an available Ford Connectivity Package,2 which comes included for a year. This means fast internet on the go and unlimited Wi-Fi® for up to 10 devices, quick data connections, smooth cloud communication, and full access to Ford Pro Fleet Management Software.

For those of you running a business, big or small, this means you can easily tap into your van's data, check its health, and use smart tools without having to install extra gadgets. Imagine being able to manage everything from how efficiently your routes are running to your fuel usage, driver habits, and even maintenance schedules.

This real-time information allows you to make smart decisions to help save time and money. Plus, if you need to customize your van with special equipment, our available Vehicle Integration System 2.0 can make those complex modifications a breeze.

What is included in the standard Ford Co-Pilot360 on the 2026 Transit?

Good news for everyone: Ford Co-Pilot360®3 is now standard on every 2026 Transit. This is like having an extra set of eyes and a helping hand on the road. You'll get features like:

  • Automatic high beam headlamps.
  • A Lane-Keeping System to help you stay in your lane.4
  • Pre-Collision Assist® with Automatic Emergency Braking to help avoid accidents.
  • And a rearview camera with rear parking sensors.

If you opt for the Passenger Wagon XLT, you'll get the full Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 package. This adds even more advanced features like Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go5 (perfect for traffic), Lane Centering, Predictive Speed Assist, a 360-Degree Camera to see all around the van, and even BLIS® with Cross Traffic Alert, which warns you about vehicles in your blind spot or approaching from the side when you're backing up.

Another thoughtful new feature for some versions of gas Transit is Exit Warning technology. It's designed to alert you and your passengers if there's traffic coming alongside, like cyclists or pedestrians, before you open a door. This helps make busy urban areas safer for everyone.

How has the interior of the 2026 Transit been upgraded to a mobile office?

Step inside, and you'll immediately notice the difference. Every 2026 Transit now features a keyless push-button start, making it easier to get going. You'll also find a new 8-inch digital dashboard display and, best of all, every Transit comes standard with SYNC® 4 with Enhanced Voice Recognition and a huge 12-inch center display. Connecting your smartphone is wireless with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™,6 and available Connected Navigation7 can help you find the best routes and steer clear of traffic jams.

For those managing a team of drivers or a small fleet, we've added some smart tools like Fleet Start Inhibit, Remote Acceleration Limiter, and Top Speed Limiters to help keep operations efficient. Plus, upgraded security features like impact alerts and inconsistent location warnings add extra peace of mind.

What other notable updates are new for 2026?

We've also included several smaller, but very useful, hardware updates:

  • Optional 253-degree rear door hinges on high-roof Passenger Vans mean your doors can open extra wide for easier loading and unloading.
  • New rear taillamps now have integrated BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) sensors (when equipped) for better awareness.
  • Single rear wheel Cargo Vans now come standard with a tire inflator and sealant kit (the spare tire is now an option).
  • Close-Assist (on Mid/High Roof Vans) helps minimize hard closes on the side sliding door.
  • And for a fresh look, there's a new exterior color option: Wild Green Metallic (fleet-only).

What improvements have been made to the 2026 Ford E-Transit?

The electric E-TransitTM is also getting some exciting changes for 2026:

  • A new 156-inch wheelbase option is available for Cutaway and Chassis Cab models, giving you more flexibility.
  • A standard vapor injection heat pump helps optimize system efficiency, especially in colder weather.
  • And for fast charging, dual onboard chargers are now available as an option (a single onboard charger is still standard).

The Transit lineup continues to be America’s best-selling commercial van8 because of its reliability and how easily you can customize it to your needs. Whether you're making deliveries, running a mobile workshop, or providing shuttle services, the gas or electric Transit is now smarter and more adaptable than ever for today's connected world.
